My baby tricked me
Yesterday night Kate slept from 10.30pm to 4.30am. I was elated! That is 6 straight hours of beauty sleep for the both of us .. how wonderful is that? At 4.30am, I fed her, changed her and then fed the other side. Burped her and was thinking how wonderful it would be for her to sleep through until 8ish in the morning. And thinking I was 2.5hours later.
After her feed, change, etc she decided to stay awake. I played Praise & Worship CD, paced the room, paced the hall downstairs, rocked her to sleep in my arms (she did sleep for like 5 mins), then she started crying again. Tried feeding her again to settle her every hour … no avail .. left her in the cot to cry for 10mins. Finally, decided to bring her to my mom at 7am as I was so tired ….
Poh Poh managed to settle her and I woke up to a peaceful sleeping baby …. hehe

Happy Birthday Jolyn
Blessed Birthday to my darling sista! What a joy you are .. I did not realise how much I missed your laughter until I heard it a couple of days ago upon your arrival to Melbourne.
I thank God for bringing you little bundle of joy into my life, for me to sayang sayang when you were little, and to accompany me and share our lives together when you are older (like now lah). Its kinda hard when we are living in different countries but I’m glad we are able to stay in touch through our blogs and all other channels of communication .. hee
So miss the times when you were in primary school, and I would bring you on outings .. and you would say the funniest things .. haha … and I miss those little hands that would comfort me when I was sad …
You have grown up into a fine young lady and we thank God for that. I pray that you will rise to greater heights in our Lord Jesus as you continue to abide in Him and allow Him to mould you into the woman He has called you to be. Blessed Birthday to you my darling sister

The gold of family
Thank God for family!
This pregnancy has really highlighted the importance of family. Its such a wonderful feeling knowing that you have the full support of family and extended family, especially after birth when practical help is so needed.
Thank you to my mother-in-law for doing cooking for me while waiting for baby Kate to be born, then doing my confinement for me after that. Thank you for cooking all the nutritious food with all the tonic and making sure that I recover well from the birth process. Also, thank you for washing baby’s clothes and all the other housework, and for changing baby and looking after her after the midnight feeds.
Thank you to my father-in-law for doing the marketing, helping with food preparation, housework, looking after baby and the other myraid of work you have done around the house. Thank you also for taking heaps of pictures and videos of baby and us … good keepsake .. hehe
Thank you to my mom who took 2 months off work to fly over here to spend time with us and help us out. Thank you for learning how to cook in such a short time to continue my confinement. Also, for learning how to change baby in such a short time and for looking after baby when she does not settle after her midnight feeds. It is such a joy to see you carry and play with baby : ) Looking forward to preparing the baby’s one-month celebration and doing Thank You cards with you.
Thank you Mummy (Godma) for flying over from Canberra for a couple of days to help out and to do the marketing even though you could have waited for a couple more days before coming over after you have witnessed the fireworks in Canberra this weekend. We are so blessed indeed. And the amazing thing is that you took public transport from the airport to my place all by yourself, we are sooo proud of you. Thank you for helping mom with the food preparation, doing the housework and carrying baby for me so that I can have my rest during the day and night. Looking forward to preparing the baby’s one-month celebration and doing Thank You cards with you.
Thank you Jolyn for coming over and spending time with us, and helping out around the house and with baby. So nice to be an Yee Yee right? Thank you for being so understanding in us not being able to bring you out to celebrate your birthday today due to my confinement but we will definately go out for a celebration before you head back to Singapore yah? God bless you on this wonderful day and may you continue to grow in stature in our Lord and bless those around you.
Last but not least, thank you my darling for being my pillar of strength and support. Thank you for looking after Kate, changing, bathing, burping and playing with her even though you had such a long day at work. Seeing daddy enjoying his daughter’s company is such a sight to behold. Thank you for taking sooo many pictures of Kate and I promise I will try my best to brush up on my photography skills so you can be featured in more pictures .. haha
Thank you to all the relatives and friends who have offered their assistance, and who have showed their love and concern through words and deeds and prayers. We thank the Lord for all of you and we pray that He will bless all of you and your loved ones abundantly and grant you much peace and joy all the days of your lives.
Love you all ……

Although we can’t go out and celebrate our 3rd anniversary today (due to my confinement), there’s no stopping a beautiful poem for you .. we shall celebrate at a later date yah?
I Love You
Kenneth
How do I begin to tell you how lucky I am
to have you in my life?
I’ll start by saying what an honor it is
for me to be your wife.
You’re my best friend in the good times
and my rock in times of sorrow.
You’re the reason for sweet yesterdays
and my promise for tomorrow.
I never thought I could feel this loved
until I became your wife.
You made this year and every year
the best one of my life.
Love always,
Evey

Circadian Rhythm
I think Kate is slowly getting the circadian rhythm right. Well, it seems she has been taking turns not settling well during her feeds over the past week. I think it has almost come full circle and we are praying that last night is the last of her unsettlement .. at least for the next few days. One day she stays away for the entire 3 to 4 hours in the early morning, then the next is the mid-morning feed, then the afternoon, then the tea time, then the evening, then the 10pm feed and then the midnight feed .. I reckon the midnight unsettlement period is the worst. Ken and I were pacing the floor last night, pat pat her bum bum until my wrist so tired … eventually, my MIL took over for 1 over hours and then just when we thought Kate was gonna sleep through at 3am, she woke up at 3.30am!! So, here goes the cow (moi), fed her till about 4am and thank God she slept through until 9.45am the next morning. Must have been so tired from all her crying the couple of hours before.
After her 9.45am feed, I was meant to change her before offering her the other breast but then she was sleeping and I was sleepy so we fell asleep for an hour on the bed. I thought, it should be pretty safe to change her now that she has had an hour to poo all she wants. I got out of bed, carried her to the change table and went about my usual business of changing her. Just as I was about to take the dirty nappy again, I heard a fart .. I thought .. neh its just a fart should be right, I reached over to take another cotton ball to continue cleaning her and before I knew it, whoa .. poo all over … I gave a shriek and boy was I glad Ken was at home with me. She had poo on her mittens and there was poo on the change mat. She bullies me I tell you. I have lost count of the times I changed her and she squirted me with her poo .. and this is after I have given her ample time to do her business .. haha .. and to top it off, she gives me her lopsided smile .. how to be angry?
So, yes, we bathed her …. she’s a happy baby having her afternoon nap now … oh no, I just realised that I should not put her downstairs when the moms are cooking else she smell like food again .. always happens after her bath .. grr . oh well, will bathe her again tmr ..
Talking about bathing, she is outgrowing our bathroom basin .. gotta bathe her in her own bathtub soon.
