Don’t you love it when you score a good bargain? We went to Knox on Monday for breakfast to get away from the flooring contractor knocking away on the floorboards. Had coffee at Narvano Café (remembered Adrian saying that the coffee there is good) and breakfast at Hungry Jacks .. haha .. what a combi! We brought along some egg tarts so we paiseh to sit in the café lah .. haha
After brekkie, inlaws took Kate for a walk in her pram and I went shopping. Managed to get some bottoms for Kate from Pumpkin Patch and Top Gear. Check out the jeans with the strawberry motifs .. hehe .. cute right?
Then I walked past RIOT ART Store and saw some lovely items calling me from the bargain bins. Scrapbooking embellishments which I can use for cards .. all going for $1.99 per pack and this huge pack of paper for like $3.00. Wish mom was there with me .. she would have loved the bargains too .. hehe
This is the best part. We were on the way back and when we walked through MYER to get to the carpark I saw this signboard which said “$15 on all Sprout dresses – one day only - 17th November 2008″. I had to check that out .. ended up buying a beautiful pink dress for $15 – what a steal.
Mommy Evey was a happy shopper today … whee

Time flies .. our darling daughter is now 9 months old …
She has started pointing and babbling a lot more in the last few days. She loves looking at Christmas decorations and lights .. whenever we bring her to the mall, she points to the Christmas decorations on the ceiling .. hehe
She is pulling herself up on furniture and our legs constantly and is cruising along … and occasionally waving at us as she moves from furniture to furniture
Kate has been acting up during dinner time lately .. not sure if she is bored of the usual fare of meat and vege or not hungry or just acting up … I do not have the patience to sit there and coax her to eat for the next hour … guess that’s what grandmas are for .. since everything their grandchild does is cute and adorable .. praying that this is indeed just a passing phase and Kate will learn to eat her meals properly again. She loves her brekkie, yoghurt and fruits tho .. sweet tooth? Hmmz
Sometimes Kate will raise her voice and remind us that she is still at the table and for us to not leave her out of the conversation .. so adorable .. today she tried to interrupt her daddy when he was talking .. aiyoh …
she is generally happy to sit in her high chair with a piece of fruit while we clean up and do work around the kitchen .. sometimes she sits there for almost an hour .. good eh?
Sleeping .. our little princess has been waking up once everynight for the last week … I attributed that to the new environment as we stayed in a serviced apartment for a week while we had some work done in the house. I am giving her another week to settle into her routine now that we are home.

It’s amazing how quickly babies learn. Its only been a week and Kate has learnt sooo many new things. She is definitely cruising on furniture now. Yesterday she looked at awe at a toddler walking in the library yesterday. If she could talk, she might have said “Hey, that will be me in no time”! Talking about library, I brought her to the Tiny Tots Storytelling session at Knox Library yesterday. She loved it. Listened intently at the librarian telling a story from a picture book and when she was blocked by another baby, she leant forward to peep at the librarian – so cute!
We have been teaching her how to make funny faces and sounds – ok its mostly me .. and she has learnt how to smack her lips together and yesterday she learnt how to make this really cute “tak tak” sound using her tongue. She looks intently at us when we are demonstrating and she usually surprises us the next day by making that exact same sound – amazing!
She has also learnt how to point at things .. loves pointing at trees, leaves and Christmas decorations .. so clever ah .. she knows that Christmas is around the corner. We are contemplating getting her a mini Christmas tree in the house. If I am adventurous enough, I might even attempt to sew her her first Christmas stocking .. whee
She finally called Mama .. yeah … then it becomes Um Um and yesterday she said Nan Nan .. she must have seen the formula tin because we are using Nan at the moment .. or perhaps she knows that nan is milk and she is telling me to breastfeed her .. or maybe she is calling her grandmothers the aussie way – Nan

Praise the Lord for a smooth day. I woke up all excited knowing that the tradespeople will be commencing work on our floorboards. Couple of months back, the dishwasher leaked and warped our floorboards and we needed to get the entire lot replaced. Thank God it is covered by insurance. The removalists and the flooring contractor arrived at 8am in the morning and got to work. We moved all the furniture into the garage and while they were hard at work, we checked into Punt Hill Knox across the road. Thank God the alternative accommodation and removalist are also being covered by insurance. It was indeed God’s blessing that I managed to find a good deal at Punt Hill on the internet – a family suite consisting of 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with breakfast for $219 per night.
The serviced apartment was beautiful and Kate seemed to know that this was to be her temporary house for the next week – she took to it like a fish in water. Crawled all over the luscious carpet and checked out all the furniture .. haha. Boy was she happy when she saw the mirrored wardrobes – she kept kissing her reflection .. sooo adorable .. hee
Here are some pics of our serviced apartment … lovely home away from home

I was hanging the laundry in the backyard this morning. The clothes dryer was just outside the backdoor and the basket of laundry was on the chair inside the house. I had to prevent Kate from coming out to the backyard so I put a breakfast stool across her path. That stopped her for a little while … the next thing I knew … our little friend had crawled to the other chair, went around it (between the chair and the blinds) and came to the backdoor … how clever is that????

I went to Kate’s room this morning to see if she was awake and there she was lying on her bolster and smiling at me .. aww … what a beautiful picture …
She’s a happy little bubba playing with her grandpa now … such a people person …
We had a bit of a Praise session this morning after brekkie and she played on her own while I took a phonecall … good baby …
hmmz .. we might go out to the mall after lunch … mommy needs to get some things …

This is great … Kate is crying lesser before her bedtime with each passing night. Praise the Lord!
From 40mins, to 35mins, to 30mins, to 15mins .. excellento!
She is getting the idea that sleep is good. Its not a waste of time and when she has enough rest, she can play more during the day and enjoy herself heaps. Well done baby!
She had a good long 2hour nap this afternoon. Although we missed the story-telling at the Knox library, I was real glad she had that refreshing nap in the afternoon.
I should try and sleep early as well since she will be waking up much earlier now that she sleeps earlier .. hehe
Good night all and may God bless all of us and grant us a good night’s rest

Thank you Dad and Mum for preparing the house and food for Ken’s birthday party. Thank you to the guys from Cornerstone for planning the surprise and thank you to all our dear friends who made time to celebrate this special occasion with Ken! Thank you everyone for your gifts, prayer and well wishes.
Ken’s 30th was on Friday the 7th of November. We managed to surprise him on thursday the 6th as we were pretty sure he would be expecting something to happen on friday. Good thinking mum! Its amamzing how God blinds us so that we have a pleasant surprise.
We started packing and cleaning the house a couple of days before and explained to Ken that we wanted to start packing up before the contractors came to work on our floors next week. He accepted the explanation .. whew! On thursday itself, Dad and I were cleaning some chairs and stools for use at the surprise party later when I heard Ken pull up outside the garage. You should have seen Dad and I scooting around to keep the chairs so as not to arouse Ken’s suspicion. We managed to bring them to the other side of the courtyard in time and thank God Ken did not venture over there .. haha
We had dinner as usual and after dinner Mum was still cooking – preparing the finger foods for his party later. Ken saw quite a lot of food in the refrigerator but just assumed that they were for lunch the next day. We managed to hide the really obvious items in the microwave and oven. Poor Dad had to take the rap for buying soft drinks. Just a couple of days ago, he dissuaded Ken from taking soft drinks due to high sugar content etc and a couple of days later, Ken saw 2 bottles in the fridge. “Eh, how how got soft drinks in the fridge? (raised eyebrows) and Dad quickly said that he bought them for himself. Ken’s response: “What, you told me not to take soft drinks and you bought them for yourself??? This is wrong manz!!!” Poor Dad.
After dinner, Dad, Mum and Kate went for a stroll and I was home with Ken. He was soo tired that he fell asleep on the couch. He did not even hear our frens outside the house .. .. what a pleasant surprise it was for him when they came in and wished him Happy Birthday!!!
We had yummy finger food (prepared by Mum) and delicious mud cake (thanks guys from care group).
Kate was very well-behaved that evening as she hosted the party with us. So proud of her.
On Ken’s acutal birthday, we had a quiet family dinner at Romanza’s!

Heaps ….
Its amazing how much little babies learn … our little darling daughter is so engaging .. you wave to her and she waves back. You smile at her and she smiles back and sometimes throws in a cheeky grin. You stick your tongue out at her, she looks puzzled for a little moment and then when you next look at her, her tongue is out .. haha … she loves putting her hand out and twisting her wrist as if they were rattles .. and and she raises her hands and kicks her legs to the rhythm during Praise & Worship … how cool is that?
She is pulling herself up on furniture .. couch, chairs, coffee table, stools, drawers, staircase, cot, our legs, pretty much anything and everything. This clever little one has learnt how to let herself down very gently from the furniture (must have learnt the hard way). Very interesting to see how careful she is when she is sitting back down from the coffee table. She has also learnt how to break her falls .. it also looks like she is dancing as she does it .. amazing!
EATING! This little gal loves her food .. gets really upset when I am too slow in feeding her .. I have to blow blow into the food to cool it down mah .. but no, must keep shoving spoonfuls of food into her mouth otherwise she will start complaining .. haha. Such a joy to see her enjoy her food : )
