Song & Dance
I do these actions to thse songs and rhymes. Remember to sing them with me next time we meet.
Twinkle Little Star
I open and shut my hands
I say “STAR” at the end of the 1st sentence
If you’re happy
I clap, stamp my feet, tap my head, turn around
This Little Piggy Went to the Market
I point to my toes
ask for more when mom has finished singing it
she usually has to sing approx 3 times at each setting … I love it
Jesus Loves me this I know
I hug you and pat pat you on the shoulder
I’m a little teapot
I tilt my head and my body like a teapot
there are more songs that I like .. shall update more next time
love you all .. hugs and kisses

What do I get up to at home – says Kate
This is my routine on Thursdays and Fridays (if I at home with Mom)
wake up
have breakfast
watch ABC Kids + play with toys
morning nap
bath
lunch
afternoon nap
play
dinner with dad and mom
play (with dad)
drink milk
sleep
* we might head out to the mall for a couple of hours – sometimes we stay at home coz Mom has so much work to do.
I have grown quite tall, and is able to reach a lot of things. I tend to accompany Mom when she is in the kitchen, I like that time and I think she does too even though she tries to get me out of the kitchen most of the time as it can be dangerous there. Dad & Mom went to Bunnings to get heaps of safety locks to prevent me from opening cabinets in the kitchen but I can still open some of them as they have yet to find a lock that works on that type of cabinet/drawer .. haha.
If I get my hands on my face washer (which mom uses to clean my face after my meals), I use it to wipe the table and floor. Clever right? That also brings a smile to my parents’ face … no need to teach this one houseork .. automatic one is what they are thinking
Sometimes if the laundry room door is open, I get in there and pull out the mop and help mom mop the floor. That never fails to amuse her too. A small baby holding such a large mop .. haha. Ever since dad showed me how he poured uncooked rice into the rice bin, I have been trying to open the lid and run the grains through my fingers. All these led to the laundry room door being shut – all the time when I am in the kitchen .. hmmz .. play elsewhere
Bathroom doors are shut too coz I love going in there and playing with the toilet rolls .. I made a beautiful wraparound dress out of it a couple of weeks ago. For those of you who have been to my house, remember the brown towel holder in my bathroom, mom can’t hang my towels there to dry anymore coz I can reach them. I grab them and throw them on the floor .. kekeke
I simply enjoy pulling things out of bags, baskets, drawers, etc .. drives dad and mom insane but I love it. I do help to put them back sometimes
gotta go .. shall update another time
love you all .. hugs and kisses

I love playing with older kids
Yes my baby loves hanging out with older kids. I drop her off at childcare in the Babies Room, but pick her up at the Toddlers’ Room after work where she spent the majority of the day. The carers believe she is bored in the babies room with some of her peers and the babies, and needs the stimulation she gets by interacting with the older toddlers (2 and 3 year olds). The feedback we receive:-
“oh, Kate is such an independent girl”
“Kate had a good day today playing with the toddlers. She had lunch with them at their table and even fell asleep on the mattress with them – instead of her cot in the babies room”
“She is a very bright girl. Obviously needs the stimulation in toddlers room. She participates in their activities and loves it”
“Kate bounced a ball off the wall and caught it again. Then, she read a book”
“Kate is so adorable. I carry her around for cuddles while I walk around the centre doing my chores”
“Bye Kate .. oh, you are a darling”
“Good morning Kate, come let me give you a cuddle”
“Kate is so cute today. She accompanied the kids to the door and waved goodbye to them when their parents came to pick them up”
“See you tomorrow Kate, tata, aww you are a good girl”
Kate’s doing very well at childcare, the carers love her and she gets to play outdoors (which she loves). Thank God for protecting her against any illnesses or accidents. Thank you Lord!

More + Oh No
Kate has been saying lots of what sounds like the word “more” when she wants more food, more snacks, more milk, for me to sing more songs, more more more … haha. On the other hand, she says “more” but makes gestures with her hands indicating “no more”. can’t say “no” yet mah
I guess I must say “Oh no” pretty often, like whenever she drops food on the floor, or me bumping into something, or whenever the need arises … haha .. and one day, I heard her say “Oh no” when she dropped her book while we were in the car.
this we are uber impressed. She brings her milk bottle to us when she finishes drinking it. How clever is that? We usually let her lie down on her little sofa, prop a mini pillow under her head and let her enjoy her bottle of milk with either a face washer or tissue paper under her chin. She is in the hall for the next couple of minutes enjoying her bottle while we go about our own business either in the kitchen or in the dining area. Few minutes later, you hear little feel pittering and pattering down the hallway and the next thing you know it, Kate is standing next to you holding out an empty bottle on one hand and either the fash washer or the tissue paper on the other plus a huge grin on her face. She then gets heaps of praises and cuddles from us for finishing her bottle of milk and bringing the empty bottle to us : )
Kate is in childcare today although I have the day off work. Brought her there later than usual as I just did not have the heart to wake her up so early in the morning. The carers were wondering whether she was going to be there today. I shall take it that they missed her .. which I am sure they did coz she is sooo adorable .. I was really excited about today last week as I was planning to go shopping without Kate and have some ME time but now I am sitting in front of the laptop, with tons of stuff to be done and missing her terribly. So, no shopping, quickly do as much as I can and then go and pick her up from childcare early. I am such a funny creature. Wants time off from Kate but when I get it, I miss her so much that I wanna see and cuddle her again. Hehe … one of the mysteries of motherhood or is it just this particular mother *grinz*

What has Kate been up to?
Well, Kate decided she is a toddler ever since she turned ONE a month ago. She started walking heaps ..
We started her on childcare 3 days a week and she is loving it. She is currently in the babies room but is spending an increasing amount of time in the Todder’s Room. The carers informed me that she is very mature for her age and enjoys playing with the older kids. The other day, she was playing with some dolls in the centre, wrapping it up in blankies and cradling it. She doesn’t do that at home coz she doesn’t have a doll so she must have been imitating the carers with the younger babies. Kate loves playing outdoors …. absolutely loves it … you should see her grin when she is outside …
now that she can walk around steadily, I bring her out into the backyard with me when I am hanging the laundry. This little darling of mine started taking pegs of the container and passing them to me. How clever is that? Own initiative leh
our little gal is a big gal now. she is no longer sleeping in her cot – but on a single bed instead. Don’t worry – we have a bed rail + cot on one side and the wall on the other with heaps of cushions down the other end. heaps of space for her to move around while she sleeps .. sleeps through most nights … which is great …
Waking her up in the mornings to go to childcare is still a struggle as Kate is not a morning person. I am currently trialling waking her up later, going to childcare later and arriving at work at 9am instead of 8ish … have to park further but she is less cranky and traffic is not a bad (I think) .. haha
okies .. i think that is enough blogging for one night … good night all

We are back!!!!!!
Finally, got a chance to update my blog .. so much has happened since my last entry that I do not know where to start. So, I shall attempt to fill you in on what is happening in our lives now .. hehe
We were very blessed to have Ken’s parents live with us for a couple of months since November. They loved spending time with Kate and were so glad they got to see her walk just before they returned to Singapore. Thank you Ye Ye and Nai Nai for the yummy food, bringing me out for walks and trips to the malls and letting me ride in the carousels.
Mom flew in from Singapore to help celebrate Kate’s first birthday and what a beautiful time we had together. Po Po missed Kate crawling but she got to see her walking, dunk a basketball, hold a basketball with one hand (mom is really impressed with that), and holding her hands out asking for a cuddle. Thanks for all the pressies, cuddles and adoration Po Po!
We had a wonderful 1st birthday celebration for Kate. Thank you everyone back home for the lovely gifts : ) It was great fun planning for it and finally hosting it. Kinda felt a bit like hosting a wedding .. haha .. was definately running on adrenaline .. was tired after that .. haha
My dad, sis, granny, a Maureen and a Wanling visited us in March before heading off to Perth for YQ’s convocation. It was soooo nice to see all of you .. and Kate did not take long to warm up to all of you at all. In fact, she keeps wanting Kong Kong to carry her. Thank you Lao Gous for pampering me. Mommy had a break from bathing me for a couple of days .. whee. YQ and Alicia surprised all of us by dropping in for a visit from Perth. How sweet of them. They came to celebrate Jolyn’s 18th birthday and also to visit Kate as they hadn’t seen her since her birth. Boy were they glad they came. Fell in love with our sweetie pie instantly. Nope, its not the mommy bragging, they told me so. Thank you all for coming .. love ya
Ken and I went on a date to celebrate our 4 years of marriage – thank you to my relos who baby sat Kate for us : ) We had a lovely time having lunch at Margos in Crown followed by a movie. Thanks for a good time darling
The last month or so was full of adjustments. Our guests returned to Singapore, Kate started childcare and I returned to work on a part-time basis 3 days a week. We are finally getting into a routine of sorts. More of Kate and childcare in another post. I did not think I would say this but I actually do enjoy going back to work. I just have to make sure I leave on the dot at 5pm to pick Kate up from childcare.
