PHEW! that was close

Saturday 29 October 2011

Kate was taking a very long time to finish her lunch. To encourage her to finish her lunch faster, Ye Ye took a blueberry from her bowl and said he will continue to take the blueberries until she finishes her lunch.

Yeye: I will take another blueberry from you once I finish washing this plate

Kate: No … its mine

Yeye: I’m coming

Kate: gobbled all her food and said “Ive finished my lunch”

Then she came to me and said “Whew, that was close”

hahahahahaha

She then walked to Yeye and said “I will share my blueberries with you”

Awww ….

She will share but on her terms .. hee

I need another lady in the house

Thursday 27 October 2011

Mummy went for bootcamp, Daddy went to play basketball, Nai Nai needs to go out for a meeting for a little while, Ye Ye looking after Kate.

About 30mins after Mummy left the house, it was time for Nai Nai to head out.

Kate: But you can’t go out Nai Nai
Nai Nai: Oh but why not?
Kate: Because I need another lady in the house
Ye Ye & Nai Nai: LOL

She chooses her own clothes

Wednesday 26 October 2011

Kate was tasked to choose her own PJs after her shower.

She pulled out her grey velour trackies (she refused to wear them of late as she does not like grey). Today, she pulled it out and said” “I am going to wear this tonight because it keeps me warm”.

Experimenting with make up

Wednesday 19 October 2011

I attended to Kate’s request for me to go to her bathroom this morning and when I went in she faced the shower stall, pointed to her face and said “please clean this for me”. Her long fringe was blocking her face and so I was struggling to see what it was. On closer look, it was two lines just below her eyes and I was wondering where it came from. Aaaah …. my eyeliner … aiyo aiyo aiyo

Earlier that morning, she was rummaging through my drawer while I was washing up. She came across the pencil eye liner and enquired its use. So, I told her it was a pencil for the eyes. She has seen me applying concealer under my eyes so she figured this must be of a similar application …. LOL

Looked like a red indian ready for war ….. ROFL

It must has scared her a little so she wanted to wash it away, but because she could not do it herself, tried to hide it from me while wanting me to help. Oh, the joys of parenting a young and curious child.

Little Blessings in Life
This morning, there was minimal drama when getting ready for creche. Probably helps that I was not in a hurry to get to work. Kate got up around 6.30am, came to our room and snuggled next to us. She wouldn’t allow me to get up, but the good thing was she did not fall asleep too. So, we snuggled in bed for a couple more minutes before waking up. After dressing up, we were off to creche. When we got there, there was no “sticky pudding” drama. She gave me a Hi-5, cuddle and kiss and waved goodbye to me.

Where is Kate?
I should have known she was in the cubby house – her favourite place. I did not look for her there as it looked empty from where I was. Boy was I wrong. Finally took a peek and she was in there with Briana (4 year old) playing Mummy & Baby. Kate was the Mummy and she was giving Briana her milk. Haha

Dinner
On our way to dinner we passed by the cinema. Kate pointed to a poster and exclaimed “Lion King”. I was surprised as I had not introduced her to Lion King. She learnt it at creche.

Kate’s funny words
Mummy I want to have SMOOTH. Smooth? What is that? Aah … you mean smoothie? Yes

“I only want BERNATO. You mean tomato? Yes

Mummy where is the BERTAINER? I need to keep my biscuits. You mean container? Yes

More vocabulary

Saturday 15 October 2011

Additions to Kate’s vocabulary

1) Kate was trying to let some sunlight in through the blinds. So, Daddy walked over and demonstrated how to do it. He said, “Kate, just turn it like that and the blinds will move this way so more light can come into the house”. Kate replied: “Oh, just TWIST like that?”

2) At lunch, Kate dropped her spoon. So, she picked it up, put it in the sink and took another from the drawer. She walked back to the dining table, and exclaimed “Look, I SWAPPED my spoon”

Maturity

Thursday 13 October 2011

Last term at Mini Maestro, Kate always wanted to sit next to the teacher. I noticed this term that she would not fuss if someone else sat next to the teacher. She could adapt and sit somewhere else. Huge developmental improvement.

Well done Kate.

Hand made storybook

Kate has been making “books”. She draws on paper, folds them into a booklet and makes up stories as she turns the pages.

That’s a great idea

Wednesday 12 October 2011

Mummy: Kate, please come and have your dinner

Kate: I am not ready yet. Still watching Hi5

Mummy: why don’t you sit at the little table and watch as you eat

Kate: hey, that’s great. That’s a good idea Mummy!

Sounds familiar. Your child does speak and behave like you. Hahahahaha

Spend time with your child and see the transformation

Monday 10 October 2011

I have been pretty snappy with Kate lately. I guess it a combination of being stressed, tired, busy, both at work, home and socially. So, the less time I spend with her, the more she acts up. Not news eh?

After a wonderful observation from my dear mum-in-law (Thanks Mum), I decided to skip my Zumba on saturday morning and spend that time with  Kate instead. That was good – she was pretty well-behaved at care group that day. On Sunday, I spent the afternoon with her after church, and wow what a lovely time. She slept so well that night, slept all the way through until I woke her up at 7.30am. She usually wakes up around 6ish and goes to her gradnparents’ room for a snuggle and snooze. However, she did not this morning. When I woke her gently and told her I would come back in a minute, she opened her eye, raised her index finger signifying ONE, and closed her eyes again. About a minute later, she called me (I was in the kitchen preparing breakfast).

So, I went upstairs and got her ready for childcare. She was not grumpy, did not whinge and greeted me with a smile. Such a blessing : )

On the way to childcare, she yawned and told me “I did not have enough sleep last night, so I yawn” … haha. When it was time for me to leave, she gave me a Hi 5, kiss and cuddle. No drama, no tears. Praise the Lord! I truly believe this good behaviour is a result of prayer and spending quality time with her. May this testimony be my reminder to prioritise and put my family first.
